"Hilarious, witty and thoroughly entertaining!"
The Boulevard Club

Peter Persona’s Precarious Picnic has all of the fun of a regular picnic with none of the calories. Everything begins when Peter decides that today is a beautiful day for a picnic. However, he isn’t going to be satisfied with any ordinary picnic. It has to be the most perfect picnic ever. Fortunately, Peter knows every recipe for a perfect picnic begins with finding the perfect spot.

The group sets off with excitement only to eventually realize they are lost. Fredric Hoppertoad discovers a doubtful detective and then Humphrey the Rooster finds himself face to face with a pie pinching pirate. Join Peter and his puppet pals as they stumble upon unpredictable challenges and ultimately learn the perfect spot isn’t a location after all.

Peter’s comedic style combines ventriloquism, costume changes and witty songs to create a fun filled show that the entire family will enjoy. Remember to stay for the meet-and-greet after the show!

Peter Welch
Creator/ Puppeteer

Peter Welch, (a.k.a Peter Persona) became highly involved in community theatre as a teenager and has always been interested in puppetry. This curiosity grew after he attended a puppet building workshop with Noreen Young. In spite of this, he never thought about performing with puppets until he was about to graduate high school. Peter found himself faced with the decision on what path to take for his future, so he did what any forward thinking person would do: Peter put his nose to the mirror and learned how to talk without moving his lips.

He began performing family shows with his lovable puppet pals Fredric Hoppertoad and Humphrey the Rooster in 2016. Some of Peter’s most memorable experiences to date include working with Autism Ontario, Neon Night Kingston, the Lansdowne Fair and the Boulevard Club. Peter draws inspiration from the works of Ernie Coombs and Rob Evans to name a few. He is motivated to create encouraging and uplifting productions for kids and families. Peter Welch has a diploma from the Toronto Academy of Acting, is an avid fan of juggling and lives near Kingston Ontario.
