Lina Jiménez
Dancer Choreographer

Lina Jiménez is the Co-Artistic Director of Healing Through Dance, a contemporary dance company  dedicated to providing awareness and generating positive action on social and health issues via dance. Under its humanitarian outreach program, the company has since 2009 provided over 4000 underprivileged children and youth, in communities at risk, the possibility to explore, express and heal themselves through dance.
Lina received her early dance training at Bogotá’s Academia de Ballet Anna Pavlova and also attended the Bachelor of Music in Performance program at the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in Bogotá.
She is a graduate of The Ailey School (Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater) Certificate program in New York City and furthered her studies at The School of Toronto Dance Theatre.
Lina has performed across Canada, and in Colombia, Europe, Mexico, Japan and the Unites States. She has appeared on stages as an independent dance artist and as an interpreter of the works of companies including OMO Dance, The Dance Migration, Judith Marcuse Dance Projects, Kaha:wi Dance Theatre, Newton Moraes Dance Theatre, Out of the Box Productions, Earth in Motion Indigenous Dance Company and Dzul Dance.
Lina’s commitment to creating art that brings true awareness to those that suffer is largely a result of her witnessing the brutal effects of the Colombian Civil War, a conflict which left thousands dead, millions displaced, and led to countless human rights abuses.
